I followed the steps over and over and I can never get the Scout GPS Link app to link with the radio and in turn the radio does not download the update. Does anyone have any ideas on this?
Can anyone comment how the assisted Scout GPS works for them when compared to Google Maps or iOS Maps?
And how about the integrated navigation on the premium stereos as well.

The wife and I are getting closer to getting a 3rd Gen and we wouldn't mind the integrated navigation however I am so used to using Google it's crazy...Especially when I map ahead of time and just save it and once in the truck pull up and looked for recents and it's right there. I know I am using data but I guess is it really worth it to have it built into the vehicle?

I know I'm bring this thread back from the dead, but I have this exact same problem. I connect my phone via bluetooth, go through the Scout GPS Link steps, and the head unit will not prompt to download the navigation update. Is there some trick/step that I'm missing?

i'm interested to see if this Scout app is any better than using google maps. I rely on google maps (over the Entune Navigation) for it's "smart" traffic directions, which factors in current traffic levels.
i deleted the scout app and went back to using google for nav.
the scout app just felt "basic" and it dropped connectivity all the time.
basically it was just a pain in the ass.
^^^^^^^^^ THIS. Google maps is far better and doesn't make you drive miles out if your way..

I'm pretty happy with the scout app it's neat having it link to my head unit and display my next move.
I was disappointed I couldn't see the map during the ride for anything more than a minute, at first anyway.

I've grown to think it's pretty cool

Scout GPS sucks. I tried it twice and gave up. Google maps is so much better and easier. "OK Google, navigate to XYZDestination" and it just does it.

I appreciate the feedback.
I'm using it, or trying to. Google maps is much better, but Scout has the advantage of being on the head unit. Google maps does a much better job of showing you, in real time, where you are on the map, etc (and seems much more intelligent). I do kind of like that Scout shows you the steps in the route (old school, but kind of like it anyway).
